Smokey Mountains

For some reason I had forgotten to post some photos from a road trip that I did this spring. I went on this trip which was supposed to be to Florida and back but I ended up getting sick among other issues and hopped a flight back from Jacksonville, FL. The upside to the whole trip was that I got a lot of really cool photos from our stay in the Smokey Mountain National Park.
For some reason I had the wild idea to take no other camera gear then my little point and shoot camera and a flash, which in a week of shooting I never used the flash.
The above image was captured with a Nikon Coolpix 7000 and processed in Adobe Lightroom.

This is a strait up natural light image, we had this amazing late evening light filtering through the trees. I shot with a 70-200mm and processed it in lightroom.

Sunset over Bemidji

This is a simple shot that I took while waiting for some one to show up for a shoot. Captured this with a Nikon D800 and a Nikon 70-200mm and then processed in Lightroom.

Ashleigh

This was a very simple image lit with a 39" octa camera left with a Quadra. We used the corner of an Airstream trailer as the backdrop. The lens was a Nikon 70-200. Post was done in Adobe Lightroom.

When you have a really cool airstream trailer at your disposal you have to take advantage right? Did this shot with a 39" Octa camera right with a Quadra in it and then placed a second Quadra unit inside with a CTO gel to make it look like there is a light on inside the trailer. Shot with a 50mm on my D800.

Nora Peterson

This is a photo I did with my friend Nora Peterson a local artist in the Bemidji area. The concept was to have her do a sketch with sidewalk chalk and then use that as the backdrop for her portrait. We found a nice out or the way spot then turned her loose with a couple big boxes of chalk, this is what she came up with. One cool feature of the D800 is having the option to do in camera time lapse video and I thought this was a great time to try it out.

The portrait and time lapse were both shot with a a Nikon 28mm and the still image was shot using a Quadra camera left with a 27" square softbox.

Bemidji Gothic

Shot this image recently of my friends Ashliegh and Cody. I posted this on Facebook and the feedback was immediate. I shot it with my D800 and a 70-200. I have been using this lens a lot more then with my D300, it seems to have a much better range for my work on the FX sensor. Lighting was done with an Elinchrom Quadra fired through a 39" deep octabox that was positioned above them and slightly camera right. Finished it off in Lightroom 4.

Some new dance images

I am having a lot of fun with the my D800. Here are a few new images from it. The bottom image had an effect added in camera to it called "miniature effect"which I really like. Both were post processed in Lightrroom.
